GIRL GOTTA HIKE PUBLIC TRANSIT SERIES #5
The Girl Gotta Hike Public Transit Series is a free, once-monthly guided hike that is easily accessed by train or by bus from NYC. Get out of the city and into the woods without needing a car!
Where: Southfields, NY
When: Saturday, October 6th, 8:10 AM (to meet @ Port Authority)
Distance: 7.5 miles
Rating: Moderate with some tricky sections
Estimated Hiking Time: 5 hours (including breaks)
Cost: Free to hike; $29.40 round-trip on Shortline Bus from Port Authority; carpooling also encouraged
Come along to Harriman State Park and enjoy the fall leaves, the crisp air and some awesome sights! We’ll make a seven and a half-mile loop full of views and fun features, such a a mini-rock scramble through the Lemon Squeezer, explore the edges of an old mine, walk through the Valley of Boulders and along sections of both the Appalachian Trail and the Long Path. Bring your favorite camera or phone and fill your social feeds with pretty fall foliage!
Hike is limited to 15 participants. Please sign up below. Girl Gotta Hike is a women’s group. While we appreciate all encouraging and supportive souls as friends and partners, this hike is just for the ladies.
Transportation details: We’ll be taking the 8:30AM Short Line Bus out of The Port Authority Bus Terminal and will have you back in Manhattan by late afternoon. The bus will be leaving from gates 401-409. Be sure to arrive at Port Authority with enough time to purchase your roundtrip tickets to Southfields, NY as unfortunately the tickets are not available for purchase online. If you will be arriving by carpool, please let me know.
Bad Weather Policy: Most hikes will go on rain or shine. However, in the case of extreme weather such as lightning or high winds, I promise to keep you safe and re-schedule the hike for a later date.
