For February’s Public Transit series hike, we’re heading up to the corner of NYC’s most northern borough, da Bronx, where, despite it’s loud, Boogie-Down reputation, we’ll find solitude in the marshy shorelines and rocky outcroppings of Pelham Bay Park and Orchard Beach. This hike will be less mountainous-adventure and more stroll-along-the-sea. We’ll see waves lapping on a (relatively) empty beach in winter, explore the edges of Twin and Hunter Islands and gaze out across the Long Island Sound. Time and mood-pending, we’ll end our afternoon with a warm drink (or some chowda) on the neighboring City Island.
Hike is limited to 15 participants. Please sign up below. Girl Gotta Hike is a women’s group. While we appreciate all encouraging and supportive souls as friends and partners, this hike is just for the ladies.
*Wait list only as of 2/4/19*
Transportation Details: We’ll be meeting at the BX29 bus stop on Charles J. Cimi Place. To get there, take the 6 Train to the northern-most stop in the Bronx, exit the Pelham Bay Park Subway Station to the east and walk over the Pedestrian Bridge / Subway Overpass. After getting to the other side of Interstate 95, you’ll see the BX29 bus stop at the edge of Pelham Park. Busses run just 2-3 times per hour, so please be prompt!
